Road Traffic Accidents

There are some 34 million vehicles currently registered for use in the UK. In 2008, approximately 228,000 people sustained injuries in road accidents including some 2,500 fatalities. Although road safety improves year on year, and as a result, the trend in the number of accidents is downwards, it is nevertheless an unfortunate fact of life that it is extremely likely that either you or a relative or friend or someone known to you such as a work colleague, will be involved at some time in such an accident. If it was not your, or their, fault our personal injury lawyers can deal with the claim if appropriate on a no win no fee basis, so as to ensure that you will receive 100% of the compensation awarded.

Should the accident have been caused by someone who was not insured or who has not been traced, (a "hit and run" accident), we can still recover compensation for you because we can help you submit your claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau. There are many procedural hurdles to overcome to make this successful but this can be done with our expert guidance. We have great experience and a particular expertise in handling road accident claims of all types and you can be confident that we will deal with your case, or any case that you recommend to us, efficiently and sympathetically.

We can arrange for you:

  • A replacement hire car whilst your own is off the road being repaired.
  • Early payments to compensate you for your immediate out of pocket expenses such as loss of earnings, travel expenses and the write off value of your vehicle should it not be repairable.
  • The cost of private medical treatment should that be appropriate.

We can recover for you:

  • Compensation for your injuries
  • Past and future loss of earnings
  • Cost of repairs to your vehicle or its write off value
  • Any hire charges incurred
  • Care and services costs
  • Aids and appliances

The length of your claim will be determined mainly by two factors. Firstly how promptly the defendant admits liability and secondly the severity of your injuries. The general rule is that the more serious the injury the longer the claim takes to settle because it is not until your medical expert can give a final forecast as to when you will make a full recovery (or what your continuing disability will be in the event of you not being able to recover fully) that we can finally evaluate accurately what your claim is worth. This does not mean however, that you have to wait until the end of your claim for all your compensation. Once the other party has admitted responsibility or the court has decided on this issue in your favour, we can obtain payments on account of the final award for you.
